The concept of our village arose from a reflective evening discussion in the midst of a rapidly changing world. While in the process of purchasing a couple of properties as a plan B, the monumental question of “What if…?” emerged, sparking the idea of building a village for people who share the same vision of the world. This vision evolved into a plan for a fully sovereign community, one that welcomes people from all walks of life, values skills over income, character over status, and blends independence with community living.
Located in Yucatán, Mexico, the region’s Spanish colonial architecture initially captivated us with its picturesque beauty. Our original plan was to emulate this style. However, as we delved deeper into the rich Mayan history that predates Spanish influence, our perspective shifted. Ultimately, we chose to honor the Mayan heritage in our design. Our modern architectural approach will incorporate Mayan elements, aiming to foster community interaction and activity. With a strong focus on health, the village will include on-site food production, various fitness options, health clinics, and spaces for meditation and reflection.
This blog is a chronicle of our journey and the story of creating this community.
